Chad Ochocinco Talks Black & White

The ever charismatic Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is at it again, but as usual the headlines he’s making have nothing to do with his football skills.  I’m sure everyone was glued to their television this past Sunday in anticipation of the dancing diva’s new reality television show “Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch” that premiered on VH1.  Well, in all honesty, the Sports Mole knew he had to tune in to witness what could only be described as an absolute spectacle and a spectacle it was.  As I sit here and laugh at the humility that I subconsciously subjected myself to on Sunday, I can’t get over how bad the actual show was.  The show started with a group of 85 superficial bimbos, but after Chad & sidekick Bernard Berrian put the women through a series of “rigorous” physical tests, they eventually weaved it down to 17 flirtatious slups.

However, in a recent interview the Bengals wide out did with the overwhelming focus of the questions was directed at the selection of the final 17 women Chad chose, which was 15 white women and 2 black.  Hmmm, wonder where this is going?   One of the questions posed to Ocho was “Are you surprised that Black women feel the way they do about your show?” in this case referring to his large selection of caucasian women.  It’s amazing how easily people, companies or in this case magazines are willing to pull the race card.  Chad responded to the statement by saying, “I can’t do anything about that. I’ve never heard other races complaining about their men dating outside of their race besides Black people. I hate that we continue to pull that race card. Experience life in general. It’s not that there’s not enough of us because I’m going to deal with y’all anyway, I always have. People make it an issue because it’s now on camera.”

Hallelujah!  Thank God someone finally had the testicular fortitude to point out that it’s 2010 and race should no longer be a factor in our decisions.  If the Sports Mole decides that he wants to date a purple gopher (yes odd) from Mars, it really shouldn’t be an issue to anyone but myself.  These racial borders that loom in today’s society are still there because we continue to make a big deal out of remedial issues like Chad Ochocinco’s selection of women on a sad reality television show.  I think your show is a joke Ocho, but I respect the hell out of you for making this statement.  Good luck on your “search for love.”
