The associated press has finally released its men’s college basketball All-American team in the midst of all the March Madness hoopla and here it is:  John Wall (Kentucky), Scottie Reynolds (Villanova), Evan Turner (Ohio State), Wesley Johnson (Syracuse) and DeMarcus Cousins (Kentucky).  Wow, couldn’t have picked a better starting five….or could I have?  There is no doubt in my mind that four of these players belong on the list, but can you guess which one the Sports Mole disagrees with?  Hmmmmmm?  That’s right Johnny its Scottie Reynolds!  Can someone please explain to me how on God’s green Earth Mr. Reynolds made this squad?  I know people are going to call me crazy since he averaged 18 points and 3 assists a game, but when his team needed him most in the biggest games (March Madness), he was an absolute no show.

Sure, Scottie and the rest of his teammates had a great regular season, but is that what these Villanova Wildcats were playing for?  I think not.  There is no doubt that as Scottie went so did the Wildcats and that couldn’t have been more indicative than in there two games against Robert Morris and St. Mary’s.  Against Robert Morris, Villanova was essentially handed the game, thanks to the officials giving any and every call to Jay Wright and his squad down the stretch.  Honestly, Scottie Reynolds scored 11 of his 17 points on free throws late in the second half and overtime.  Are we kidding?  Next, don’t even get me started on his pathetic performance against St. Mary’s where it clearly looked like he left his jock strap and game back at the hotel.  His lack luster performance was the reason Nova lost far earlier than they should have.  Off this alone, I by no means put him on the All-American squad.  I think there are more deserving players than Scottie Reynolds like the Jayhawks Sherron Collins, West Virginia’s Da’Sean Butler or even Tennessee’s J.P Prince.  FYI I do understand that voting is conducted before the tournament, but I don’t think it should be at all.
