Broken Dreams for the Spurs

Posted: March 7, 2010 in NBA

Just when you think things are starting to go the San Antonio Spurs way, they are dealt a devastating and perhaps season ending hand.  In last nights game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Tony Parker dove for a loose ball and got caught up in a scrum that resulted in a broken hand for the former NBA Finals MVP.   The break will put Parker out for six weeks and couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Spurs as they prepare for a deep playoff run.  For the Spurs, the window of opportunity to win an NBA championship is closing fast with superstars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili getting up their in age.  The Spurs management team well aware of this shrinking window decided to go out this past summer and bring in the likes of Richard Jefferson, Keith Bogans and Antonio McDyess.  Despite this valiant effort to bring in more talent and athleticism, the Spurs players have failed to gel all season until these past several weeks.  The loss of Tony Parker at this pivotal part of the season means that the Spurs will have to rely heavily on the shoulders of the young, naked picture sending George Hill  to win an NBA title (big sigh).  With that being said, let’s not feel too bad for Mr.Parker.  After all this extended leave of absence only means he will get to spend more time with his gorgeous wife, Eva Longoria.  Geez, if we could all be so unlucky!
